Minister: New work helps sustain construction jobs

"People working in construction jobs in Wales are to receive a boost later this month."

According to the Welsh Assembly deputy first minister Ieuan Wyn Jones, a new multi-million pound housing project in Swansea will help to sustain construction jobs in the region.

"This investment is a boost for the city and will not only help sustain jobs in the construction industry and provide local businesses with supply opportunities but will also create a range of affordable homes on one of Swansea's most prestigious development sites," he said.

"It's good news to see a major construction project like this going ahead in these challenging market conditions and is a mark of confidence in the SA1 development," he added.

The £10 million green housing development is to be built on land obtained from the Welsh Assembly Government.

Costal Housing will be carrying out the work, which will involve the construction of 69 new affordable apartments situated by the Prince of Wales Dock on the SA1 Swansea Waterfront development
