Electronics firm's success to create 30 jobs after buy-out

"A TOTAL of 30 new jobs are set to be created near Swansea by a firm celebrating a decade of business in South Wales."

Electronic Motion Systems (EMS), which is based at Penllergaer Business Park, has undergone a management buy-out and is looking to expand its workforce.

EMS general manager Rolf Dahlmanns led the team behind the buy-out and said the business had never been in better shape.

The firm is now preparing to deliver a major contract next year to design and supply 410,000 electronic hydraulic power steering systems for a major car manufacturer.

Mr Dahlmanns said the management buy-out had removed any uncertainty about the company's future and provided a stable environment for its 110 staff in Wales.

He said: "From a business perspective it means we can be far more flexible, have total control over the direction we want to take the business and do not have to operate under the constraints imposed when part of a larger corporation."

The EMS boss said continued support from the Assembly Government had helped strengthen the business. Financial assistance from the Assembly had allowed EMS to build a new production line to deliver its latest contract win and negotiate for two more significant deals.

Ieuan Wyn Jones, the Assembly Minister for Economy and Transport, praised the buyout at EMS and said it meant the management team now had complete control of how the business developed.

He said: "The decision-making remains in Wales and will be tailored to the specific needs of the business."

EMS has also received help with its staff training through the Assembly's ProAct scheme.
