Anglesey port project creating 450 jobs given go-ahead

"Plans for a port warehouse and distribution depot on Anglesey that could create 450 jobs have been given the go-ahead.

The island's planning authority voted in favour of the new building, which is earmarked for land in Holyhead.
The company behind the project, Conygar Investment Company(CIC), said it would now push for funding from the Welsh Assembly Government and Europe.
CIC, with ferry firm Stena Line, is also developing the town's waterfront.
The office and distribution centre on 120 acres at Parc Cybi, in Holyhead, could help counter the effect of job losses at Anglesey Aluminium, and when the Wylfa nuclear power station closes.
The next step is to secure public sector funding to enable the development to proceed and discussions will now take place with officials of the Welsh Assembly Government and the Wales European Funding Office hopefully to secure that support

Plans are for three two-storey office buildings and four industrial warehousing/distribution units totalling 110,000 sq ft.
Robert Ware, chief executive of CIC, said last year the development could bring up to 450 jobs.
Following Anglesey council's decision to back the scheme, Mr Ware said: "We are obviously pleased that planning consent has been granted for the development.
"The next step is to secure public sector funding to enable the development to proceed and discussions will now take place with officials of the Welsh Assembly Government and the Wales European Funding Office hopefully to secure that support."
He said last year the development would strengthen the attraction of Holyhead to the logistic industry.
The planning application went before the council on Wednesday with a recommendation for approval from officers.
